THEIR LIVES, OUR HEARTFELT MISSION
Their lives are precious! We believe that horses are proud and beautiful creatures with unique personalities. Much like humans, they work, play, enjoy the warm sun on their skin, and take comfort in companionship. But many times they are simply worked to the bone and cast aside when they are no longer “useful”. Many, driven to the point of exhaustion and overcome with pain, simply collapse and are abandoned where they lay. Some are purchased as pets only to be quickly sold off to unscrupulous buyers after an owner realizes a horse is just “too much work”. These proud animals are then rounded up and crammed into trucks, taken to auctions, and sold off to bidders who will then shove them back into trucks and transport them hundreds of miles to be sold off once again for their meat, hides, hair, and so on. They are basically sold for parts like an old car. They deserve so much better than this. Our mission is to help them escape this fate.
At MountainView, our mission is twofold: to educate and inform the public about the inhumane treatment these horses are forced to endure, AND to provide the care and sanctuary needed to rehabilitate the animals we rescue in an effort to give them the peaceful existence they deserve. Each of these on its own can prove at times to be difficult, yet it never ceases to be rewarding. However, our mission to help these proud animals is nearly impossible with just our small staff of dedicated professionals and volunteers. That’s where you come in… Your help and support are invaluable and so desperately needed. Without the generosity of caring individuals like you, these animals would continue to be mistreated and live a life of near-constant suffering and pain. Together we can put a stop to this cruelty.

Did you know that studies have shown that volunteering your time can lead to a substantial increase in happiness and better physical and mental health? It’s true! We are in need of volunteers with experience in carpentry, maintenance, animal care, and grooming.
